In your neighborhood, you may have noticed that the street lights can be almost as horrendous looking as the telephone lines. Designer Jongoh Lee must’ve been disgusted by the intrusion on mother nature for having come up with these solar powered street lights that imitate leaves, called Invisible Streetlight. Santa Monica recently held its first GLOW festival on July 19th, an all-night event of media art, performances, music, and sculpture. The most memorable of all was perhaps Usman Haque’s art installation called Primal Source. An eco-friendly moon that’s painted on an average cabinet; it’s sure to keep its owner awake all through the night. Sometimes simplicity can be king when designing a product. Case in point: The Brightdoor. A creation from the studio of Lervik Design, Brightdoor works just like a traffic light sans yellow. If the door glows green, it’s unlocked and you can enter. Seeing Red? No entrance for you! Like many unique products, this is just a prototype that isn’t going to be implemented anytime soon.
