The Last HOPE: Bloomin’ Dildo
So, we’re at the Last HOPE Conference in New York. The moment we arrived at the Pennsylvania Hotel, we took the escalator upstairs to the showroom floor. We were then greeted by this blossoming solar powered dildo flower thing. Whew, that’s a mouthful, and so are all those dildos! Glass or rubber, these lamps have it all. Dildos, butt plugs, anal beads and pretty much any love stick imaginable decorate the light, but perhaps most importantly is the center piece. ... Continue reading
DIY Cord Keeper
Don’t you wish your home had a fancy cord-keeping system like that of an office building, library or school? Fat chance, unless you’re on a decent budget. For the rest of us, there’s this fantastic DIY cord keeper from Chris Metcalf. It involves plastic, a drill and a whole lotta love. Oh, and a little double-sided tape never hurt. Take the plastic, drill out some holes, stick it to your desk in the back and voila. Presto change-o. Link (via)
Roland TR-909 Completely Dissected
Since its release in 1984, the Roland TR-909 has since become the de facto drum machine for electronic dance music. Over on Flickr, user Firegroove took apart his TR-909 to try to fix it and documented the whole process. Never again will you see such ridiculous pictures of a huge circuit board. If you look at the boards and all the wiring, circuits, etc., it’s kind of funny how all this stuff can be emulated by software perfectly. All you... Continue reading
God Hates Us: AAAA Batteries Intro’d
You know what? Fuck Energizer and fuck that stupid pink bunny who keeps going and going. Batteries suck. I hate paying $4 for a 9V battery as much as you do. In fact, it’s absolute bullshit. So as a bullshit company, it makes perfect sense for Energizer to introduce yet another battery format to the market. This time around, it’s AAAA batteries, which no devices use. This ultra-small battery is supposedly designed for small electronics use. DAPs, Bluetooth headsets, wireless... Continue reading
DIY: Wooden Nixie Clock Kit On Ebay
Nixie clocks possess the subtlety of simplicity as well as a retro run-down look. The finished project looks fantastic but good luck trying to make it look like the picture. If you aren’t interested in assembling electronics, then there’s nothing simple about this DIY. For $150, you can have this 115-part set of tubes and socket pins sent to you disassembled. You’ll also have to purchase an AC adapter to power the clock, as it is not provided for you.... Continue reading
New pedometer pulls out all stops
This new pedometer from Maplin Electronics is coming out at the perfect time of year for all of you who “vow to start exercising this year. The pedometer not only acts as a pedometer, but also as a panic alarm and an FM radio. First off, the FM radio is a nice little add-on to the pedometer, so you don’t have to carry another device when you’re running. Now the panic alarm, on the other hand, is a little strange;...
