DIY: Rusty nail LED night light

It’s not so much that we are scared of the dark, but that we love DIY gadgets. Yeah…that’s the reason we’re discussing this project. This cool rusty nail LED night light was made with a technical ingenuity seen only through reruns of MacGyver. We realize CAT 5 wire isn’t something most people have lying around their house, but if you can’t seem to find any, just snatch some wiring out of an old transformer. This project is a cool lesson... LED nose stud powered by breathing

Nose studs are cool right? How ’bout having an LED light on, hmm are you going to shove a battery up that nose? Some dude in Israel has got it all figured out, and they called it the Firefly. The Firefly LED nose stud is powered by electricity generated from your breathing airflow? (check out the tiny turbine above) Next time when you see a brilliantly bright star, it may well be somebody sneezing. – Sam Chan Link

Scientists building super tiny robot hand for super tiny needs

UCLA engineering scientists are developing a microscopic robotic hand, which they hope one day will be used for surgeries that entail removing small bits of crap. The silicon robotic fingers will be controlled by air pressure rather then electricity, which we assume is to assure it lasts longer than a complex electrical device would. The only drawback for now is that the little guy doesn’t come equipped with a camera, so the use will still be limited. Future models of... Continue reading

Researchers work on developing a computer that runs on light

Researchers from the UK are working on creating a computer that runs off of light, rather than electricity. The research project at the University of Bath is focused around the creation of attosecond technology, which refers to continuous pulsing light that lasts for the extremely short period of time of a billion-billionth second. Researchers are determined to learn how to manipulate photons the way a computer uses and controls electrical fields. Because of the ever shrinking size of silicon chips,... Continue reading

Wall socket cabinet not a good teaching tool for toddlers

This cabinet is definitely the wrong thing to buy if you have small children. Why? Because it will teach them that by sticking their arms into sockets, they can find something hidden inside. Not the greatest thing to be teaching toddlers. Now if you don’t have small ones, this is a pretty cool type of gag furniture. The idea remains that sticking your arms in a socket gets you something, but now that you are over the “fork-in-socket” stage, you... Continue reading

Powerstick USB gadget charger

We’ve all seen the USB flash drives with the little display on front to let you know how full your drive is with your precious data, and The ECOSOL Powerstick might look identical to one of those. If you look closely, it has a little icon of a gasoline tank, what’s that about? The Powerstick serves as a charger for your mobile devices, not a flash drive. It can charger nearly any cellphone, PDA, MP3 player (including your iPod), and... Continue reading

WildCharge wireless charger

It is amazing that this concept is even possible, but scientists Nicola Tesla proved it was many years ago. The WildCharge (which isn’t available for sale yet) is the charger that saves the problems everyone experiences with charger cords. It’s the direction we are destined to follow, many things (if not everything) will eventually become wireless. Just look at new products, every next-gen gaming console comes with the option of a wireless controller, our internet networks are run wirelessly, and... Continue reading
