Lock Away Work Station For The Paranoid

When it’s been a long day at work and you’re sapped of any energy you require to pack up your belongings and scurry home, you’ll need to facilitate the process. A briefcase doesn’t come close to fitting your whole workstation in it like the Cyber Box does. It’s a cubicle on the move that, when on your way out, forces you to take the elevator.

Designer Jacky Nicolas wanted to give workers a way to lock up their computer into an elegant case when not in use. It was designed for home use, but I can imagine this working well in the cubicle-ridden world of business.  It’s like a collapsible fortress of solitude that you can lock up to keep Lex Luthers (your co-workers) away from.  You can bet that with a base made of beechwood, chromium metal parts and industrial castors, the Cyber Box doesn’t come in cheap.  Although, if you’re Bill Lumburg it won’t matter.

Your Very Own Fortress Of Solitude (Without The Ice)

Designer Soojin Hyun has created a unique take on an office workplace by adding an adolescent fort feeling to a workers surroundings. It’s called “House on the Table,” and that’s essentially what it is – a house on a table. If anything, it’s a glorified cubicle without the carpeted walls.

It would boost a workers attitude more so than a traditional jail-like cubicle with interior decor that looks nicer than most homes. You can’t actually crawl inside of it like you would a traditional fort, but you can hang a “no girls allowed” sign on it to fend off the naysayers.

Briefcase Seat Gives The While Collar Type Yet Another Place To Sit

briefcase_seat.jpg

You’d think that your average white collar cubicle warrior would be hellbent on actually standing up and moving around when he’s not tied down to his office chair, but apparently, office workers just like to sit! The Briefcase Seat design from artists Joan Korbes and Denis Oudendijk provides cubicle workers a place to sit after their long day of, um… sitting?

Made using a standard briefcase, with a set of nylon straps crafted onto its body, the Briefcase Seat can be slung over any sturdy railing to provide a semi-comfortable seating arrangement for the time being. Or, you know, they could always just stand up for once. Kind of a bummer that there’s no toilet integration.

Office Collar Stops You From Gnawing On Your Coworkers

How can we not be distracted at the office when all of our coworkers are wearing such low cut blouses? The chest hair is just overwhelming. The Office Collar resembles the collar the vet gave me after I had to get neutered, so I couldn’t lick my wounds.

Wearing the Office Collar creates your own private cubicle for your head, allowing for a distraction-free work space. It also will help you stop gnawing at your wounds when you feel an itch in your stitches. (more…)

Eclipse Office Partition Keeps You Isolated

eclipse-office-partitioning-system_48.jpg

Sometimes we wish we had a cubicle at home, just so we could keep ourselves separated from some of the annoyances of everyday life. The Eclipse Office Partition designed by Marcus Curran is a complete desk solution to ignoring daily annoyances. And while it doesn’t have the cool factor of the Battle Rig, it has a few helpful uses of its own.

The anti-social partition comes complete with a desk, task chair, integrated speakers, a wireless recharging mat, and a wireless camera/projector stuffed into the hood for teleconferencing. Even though this system is only a concept so far, we can see products like this becoming available for retail, just because of the mass amounts of people working from home now. — Andrew Dobrow
