Reimagined NES Console Reinvents The Retro Flair
The NES console was a major turning point in the history of gaming. It probably doesn’t get enough credit for the influence it had on the gaming world and how it was the bridge between Atari and modern-day video gaming. Javier Segovia is a digital industrial designer who just so happens to believe it’s time for the old Nintendo Entertainment System to have a little taste of reinvention. He calls his design the reNESED, and it is a beautifully re-imagined... Continue reading
Ori-ori-Moshi-moshi: Flexy Multimedia Device From The FUTURE
If you were to get your hands on a Flux Capacitor and traveled to the year 2014, Marty McFly style, you might see some gadgets that will blow your mind. The Ori-ori-Moshi-moshi device (that name might be hell on its marketing) is a conceptual multimedia device made of a semi-flexible OLED display, which uses an origami-like form factor for pure awesomeness. Just like many dream gadgets from the future, the Ori-ori-Moshi-moshi from AntennaDesign consolidates about every electronic function under the... Continue reading
AlphaGrip Handheld Computer Makes You Look Like An Alien
When I first caught glimpse of the AlphaGrip, I thought to myself “Well, I guess the jig is up. We humans had a fine run on Earth but the alien visitors have finally landed.” I was relieved to discover that the AlphaGrip Handheld Computer is actually a very terrestrial device. A high-performance high-speed portable concept computer made for gamers. The AlphaGrip features a overall killer hit list of interface specs, such as handwriting recognition so you can use a stylus... Continue reading
DJGO Keeps The Party Hoppin’ Over Here, And Over There
Whatever happened to the good old days of the traveling DJ. The days when turntabilism was a sought out art form for any rockin’ party. DJ’s are starting to get lazy, that’s what. Tired of lugging the same old equipment back and forth from gig to gig. The DJGO concept understands that what the modern DJ wants, isn’t to make 20 trips back and forth for all of his gear. Packing in a pair of CD/ MP3 turntables and a... Continue reading
The Bedu Emergency Rapid Response Kit
I really have to give it to designer Toby McInnes for his “Bedu” concept emergency kit. It comes in a beautiful orange canister that resembles a propane tank. According to product renderings, the kit can apparently hold enough shit to provide shelter for the entire starting lineup of the New York Giants. I spy, with my eye, a tent, stove, a medkit, cooking utensils and pots, luggage, a thermos and a generator. Who knows, there’s probably a keg in there... Continue reading
Laptop Literature: The Future Of Books
Once upon a time, there were volumes of bound pages which were called books. People use to read these “books” to gain the knowledge of the world, or even just as a quite night in bed. Ever since the dawning of the Internet age, book reading has taken a sudden nose dive, thanks to the instant gratification of RSS and Wikipedia. Designer Kyle Bean put together a fabrication of what he likes to call “The Future Of Books”, featuring a... Continue reading
High Tech Scroll Concept Is Only A Geek’s Fantasy
There are some gadget concepts that make me want to jump up and lobby to the world about them. This High Tech Scroll concept is a gorgeous idea, there just isn’t the technology available yet to create it. Featuring a 10 MP camera, camcorder, touchscreen, WiFi, Bluetooth support, and a PC running a full version of XP or Vista (come on, give us some OS X goodness!), the High Tech Scroll is too good to be true, and it isn’t.... Seasonique: Keeping Woman In Control Of Their Vaginas Three Times As Long
As a male, I’ve never had the pleasure of bleeding from my genitalia (except for this one time in Tijuana), and I can’t say that I’m too disappointed about it. But I know that keeping track of that sort of thing is important if you don’t feel like paying for another mouth to feed. Seasonique is a concept for women, which improves on the old birth control pill holders by creating a new contraceptive dispenser. Seasonique not only holds three-months... Continue reading
Ring Flash Camera Gives A Taste Of Lomo
The tagline for the conceptual NYC Ring Flash Camera says “Now You’re Ready To Become A Fashion Photographer”, and from looking at the stylish design and function of the device, the tag doesn’t seem too far from the truth. Offering a unique design, the flash of the camera is mounted around the lens in a loop, a style we’ve been seeing more and more of. The flashes design gives the photos a typically high contrast, with dark vignettes, lomo feel.... Continue reading
INFO Live Bracelet: A PC On Your Wrist
As far as entries to the Next-Gen PC Design competition go, the INFO Live is relatively simple and straight forward. The INFO Live Bracelet basically acts as a wearable smartphone, merging a mobile device and a PC into a fashion accessory. Use the 55 x 20 x 180mm touch-controlled INFO Live device for Internet connectivity, data transferring to other wireless-enabled devices, storing tons of data, reading and receiving the latest news, e-mails, messages, sharing documents in real-time, watching videos, listening...
