Come and Knock On Our Door: Famous Sitcom Sets Recreated With LEGO Bricks

It’s the shows we grew up on. The one that taught us our values because our parents were too busy drinking and slapping us around. The one that taught us that even average American’s have family values. The one that taught us that even senior citizens have a sex drive. Wait… what? Yes, it’s some of our favorite sitcom sets, recreated through the wonder of LEGO brick art. According to Flickr user, On The Set, each set took about two... Continue reading

Salvador Dali Clock Adds A Mustached Dose of Surrealism To Timekeeping

Possibly the owner of the greatest and most influential mustache in the history of art, Salvador Dali was a master of his medium. His life was the arts. One of his most famous works, The Persistance of Memory, shows a series of melting and morphing clocks. This wall timepiece is designed to invoke a similar feel of surrealism and mutated time. We aren’t what you might call the most cultured of people on the web. We have our fair share... Continue reading

If DaVinci Had Designed Super Mario Bros…

It would have looked something like Kevin Tong’s depiction here. Available in t-shirt form! DaVinci, a man of many talents. Link

Materialista: Suspended Truck Can’t Veer Into Your Damn Lane

Truck drivers need to stay in their own damn lanes. They seem to think they’re driving Mini Beetles, while in actuality they’re inching their speeding 18-wheels a little too close to my fragile sedan. Now that I’ve finally found an excuse to chastise the driving of truck drivers, I can introduce you to Materialista, a project by Mexican artist Damián Ortega. Suspended in mid-air are various truck parts. They are suspended in such away that it appears that a half-invisible... Continue reading

LEGO Twitter Fail Whale Swims With The Fishes

Flickr user tveskov and LEGO design extraordinaire, Bjarne P. Tveskov, admits to cheating a bit when he created his Twitter Fail Whale LEGO design. The brick which features the beloved whale’s eye was originally yellow. Tveskov did a little color reworking with Adobe. Like that really matters? This thing is plain awesome, shopped or not. Waveform Jewelry

Waveform jewelry is nothing new to nerds like us. After all, we previously covered a wedding ring that had the waveform for “I do” engraved into the side. You can read about that here. But much like the Eagles’ classic hit, there’s a new kid in town. The Sound Advice project produces all sorts of jewelry based on custom waveforms. Believe it or not, the project is sort of an anti-drug campaign but never mind that nonsense. At $18, it’s... Continue reading

You Call Them Soundsuits, I Call Them Fabergé Penises

I’m not going to print designer (and possibly musician?) Nick Cave’s little manifesto on why he created furry penis costumes. That’s between him, god and his altar boy but regardless, some of these designs are pretty unique (read: penis-shaped). As the head of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Cave calls his “Soundsuits” wearable costumes that hide every trace of identity. Yes, this is true. Where am I going with this? Nowhere. March 28th, San Francisco – be... Continue reading

Skede: Skateboard Chair Featuring Your Deck

Here’s a creative idea: take an old, radical skateboard deck and turn it into a usable chair. Aside from recycling and bringing new design to the living room, the Skede chair is available with a deck from Control or without a deck. That means you can add your own or Ryan Ash can add his broken NOFX skate deck. No fatties though, ’cause that deck acts as a third chair leg. Link [via]

R2D2 Boombox Brings The Jams, Wookies

R2DJ, RJD2, R2D2 – whatever your poison, you gotta respect the original droid. This boombox is crafted to look like R2D2, except there’s no midget inside controlling it. Unfortunately, it’s a non-working model, effectively shattering your dreams of a Death Star breakdance competition. Link

Type Cube: Design Your Own Fonts

I’m not quite sure what the Type Cube is supposed to be but from what I can gather, you can design your own fonts using cubes with painted shapes on them. Use black squares and quarter-leaves to spell out classic words like “BONER” and “TOOL.” Actually, Type Cubes look like a fun way to teach children about letters, design and spelling all in one session. Do you know who created Type Cube? Let us know in the comments. Link
