Trip Out: DIY Arduino POV Device
Who doesn’t love a good POV device? Watching designs come out of spinning lights is always a pleasure for people of all ages. Now you can build one on the cheap and with an Arduino if you own one. Materials are relatively easy to acquire and the results look decent. Link (via)
DIY: Ard-e The Arduino Robot
Robotics can be an expensive hobby but cheap robot projects do exist. Instructables member Imadami has made a DIY robot with an Arduino brain that you can build yourself for under a hundred dollars. This remote controlled robot is stocked with a pan and tilt system that could be used to aim a camera or even a USB missile launcher for surveillance and/or scare tactics. The creator even suggests the option of purchasing additional sensors to make the robot fully... Continue reading
Arduino Controlled Powerball Game
It’s no joke that the Arduino is changing the way we build projects. I’ve even ordered one so I can start tinkering with it and discovering how it works. It seems a more advanced architect of sorts has already shown me up, though. This Powerball-based game lets you move around in a Flash-based game with the ball controller. Just like Tempest! Link
Control Your Arduino With A TV Remote
We’ve got a bad case of Arduino fever over here at Gearfuse and some homebrew projects are our only cure! That aside, you can now use a code library to use a universal television remote to control your Arduino-based project. The official word: The library implements the NEC IR protocol, so set up the universal remote for any NEC device (TV, DVD, VCR, …) and the 32-bit codes should be received. The example sketch provided just prints out IR codes... Continue reading
Impressive: Using Sneakers To Control Music
This is by far one of the most impressive DIY projects I’ve ever seen. Seems some guy hacked his Saucony sneakers with photoresistors to react to light. Each show has a 1/4″ jack to plug in an amp cable with and when you move your foot, a sound file is manipulated. Those NYU students are just so darn crafty. The entire process is detailed well on his personal NYU page, so be sure to give that a read if you... Continue reading
DIY: Arduino XPort Shield Build
If you’ve got soldering skills and you dabble in the Arduino programming language, this add-on will allow Internet access to your Arduino via Ethernet. This will allow you to check your email, your Tumblr and lots of other stuff the government won’t allow me to tell you. DailyDIY provides step-by-step instructions for this simple build for the novice solderer. Remember, it only takes one trip to Radio Shack… Link
Wii Nunchuk Controlled Espresso Machine
What is surely the result of brainstorming under the influence of far too much caffeine, coffee addict Tim Hirzel presents his hacked Rancilio Silvia espresso machine. With the help of an Arduino micro-controller, Hirzel has managed to allow the espresso machine to be controlled by the Wii Nunchuk controller. The Silvia espresso machine, which now features an integrated calendar, sleep timer, wake-up alarm, and temperature regulation, can all be remotely controlled using the Wii peripheral. Hit the jump for... Continue reading
