Paparazzi: New iPhone Game Brings Facebook Into The Mix

Paris Hilton. Britney Spears. Lindsay Lohan.

What do these three beautiful women have in common?

Ah yes, they’ve all flashed their vagina for the paparazzi. Lovely. Wouldn’t you love to be a member of the paparazzi sans citations for stalking from the LAPD? Of course you would. That’s why you need to check out this new game based on the app Socialbomb, which is launching at South by Southwest (SXSW) this week. I’d try to explain it but you should really read how it it works:

Players take photos of their friends and share them on Paparazzi/FB. The goal is simple: by taking shots of your friends, having your picture taken, and being in the right place at the right time, you can jack up your internet fame in a fun way.

Its easy to use – snap photos of your friends (and they snap photos of you), simply tag folks by tapping their faces on the screen, add a witty headline, and boom, youre on the way to fame. Every photo you take earns you points, as does every photo youre in. As you gain attention and points, you become more valuable to other players who can ride your coattails to stardom.

Location matters: The more photos of famous people that are taken in a given area, the more that area is worth, meaning that all photos taken in a famous area are that much more valuable. Catch a famous friend in a hot spot and your score goes up even more.

Not all press is good press – if you end up in too many photos youll find yourself over-exposed and actually worth negative points. Obviously this is reserved for egregious show-hoggers, bc the point is for folks to have fun taking many shots and having many shots taken of them.

It actually sounds like quite the addictive game. Since everyone I know has an iPhone and is incredibly vain, I’d like to see how far we can take this. We’ll have a review next week but if you’re curious, Socialbomb is up on iTunes right now.

  1. Wow. This sounds incredibly fun. I love “real world” games, and this just blows the doors off anything out there. Can’t wait to play!
