New Tablet PC is “World’s Cheapest”, Only Costs $50

You thought that the $99 firesale on HP Touchpads was cheap? Well, this little tablet cuts that price in half. Consumers all over India will be able to purchase this 7″ tablet for just $50.

Given, this tablet doesn’t have all of the functionality of most of the beefed-up tablets flooding the market today. It doesn’t have a camera, or a volume button. Instead, here are some of the specs:

  • 2 USB slots
  • MicroSD card slot
  • A single “home” button that controls all functions
  • Runs Android 2.2
  • A 366MHz processor with a dedicated HD video processor
  • 2GB on board flash storage
  • The capability to play full HD videos at 1080p

Right now, India will be releasing this tiny tablet to students, sort of as a “portable textbook” for using during classes. However, since the tablet’s battery only lasts from 1.5-3 hours, students will need to visit a charging station in between classes.
