4K is the next big thing when it comes to video and now Netflix is joining the ranks in experimenting with 4K video. This week Netflix tested the waters by placing six clips of 4K video in to the mix.
The testing of 4K video is part of Netflix’s decision to provide “ultra HD” video to subscribers, something which they anticipate being able to offer within the next year. The six clips added to Netflix are all filed as “El Fuente” and are more stock footage than anything else, but are sufficient enough to test the ability of Netflix to handle the frame rates of 4k video. The six clips are just the beginning but so far so good in Netflix’s venture in to ultra HD, now if only we had an arrival date we could start getting excited about it!
