We like to get down on Friday’s with the best of them. And what better way to get down then to celebrate the greatness of cheese sculpting? I know I’m excited!

These sculptures make my feeble attempts at sculpting a cheese penis out of my measly string cheese look like pure amateur play. Cheddar happens to be my favorite, and I’ve never been one to hesitate eating a U.S. president when I have the chance. As it turns out, cheese sculpting has its own dedicated niche. Very dedicated.

Measuring only 5.5cm long, the SwissMiniGun claims to be the smallest pistol manufactured today. The gun is so tiny that it requires specialty 2.34mm caliber bullets. And I have no idea where you’d even find a holster.

At $6,000, this pistol probably isn’t for the amateur gun owner, but why would the average person need this thing anyway? Also, this gun can’t be imported in the U.S., but is permitted in Canada. So, if your American heart is that set on the SwissMini, you might need to pack up and move.

I know, I know. This golf club from Nike has a name longer than a ‘67 Cadillac. But with good reason. This $540 (MSRP) driver from Nike is supposed to be the best of the best, the creme de la creme of drivers. Tiger uses one, so why shouldn’t you? Nike sent us one to try out for the weekend, so we took it to Golf Galaxy in Mount Laurel, New Jersey and put it to the test.

While amateur photographers have long enjoyed the luxury of the WiFi-enabled Eye-Fi SD card, pros will be happy to know that there’s finally a solution available for them. For $150, you’ll cop a 4GB SD card that supports WiFi uploading, the ability to choose which pictures go where and RAW imaging support. Gizmodo reviewed it and says it’s great, so if you spent over $2000 on a digital camera, it may be worth a look.

I’ve been DJing since I was 15. Never professionally, only at parties, the occasional event or for my own pleasure. My first set of decks were made up of old Numark belt-driven turntables. After I got a little better, I bought Technics 1200s with Ortofon cartridges and a nice Rane mixer. That lasted me until I went digital and started using M-Audio’s Torq Xponent controller in conjunction with Traktor 3 on my Macbook.

Now it’s 2009. For the last few weeks, I’ve been messing around with the Tonium Pacemaker. It’s a rather expensive little DJ device coming in at around $850 but it packs a lot of power.

Have a Windows PC and a Netflix account? Perfect. Grab your credit card and get ready to hand over $30 to RealNetworks. Yes, that Real. The one with the obsolete streaming audio format. Yes! That’s the one!

You see, Real just released RealDVD. It’s a legal application that allows you to rip DVDs to up to five computers without ramifications. It’s legal, easy to use and will surely benefit the amateur pirate. Hollywood wasted no time in threatening RealNetworks and now, in a counter move, Real has sued the major studios. It wants a judge to essentially insist that RealDVD is legit and here to stay. As Chamillionaire says, controversy sells.

During the course of their neverending quest to get high, crackheads are often forced to play amateur scientists. They mix chemicals, experiment on their bodies, and make stoves out of common household products. Perhaps the most well-known piece of crack addict lab equipment is the glass pipe. Recently, I noticed a new twist on this infamous piece of drug paraphernalia at a Brooklyn bodega: ”glass ball pens” that are obviously just an excuse to sell pyrex tubes.

Lately law enforcement has been going after places that stock the glass-enclosed cloth roses that crackheads have traditionally used to smoke rock. These innovative new pens are designed to foil the pesky crack pipe bans. I doubt they write at all. Crackheads must be snatching up the pens fast, because when I stopped by today to take a picture of them with a real camera the guy behind the cash register told me they were all sold out.

All it takes to make a sick Sci-Fi adventure is some recycling prowess. We could so see these masks used in a motion picture. And to think they were made using random electronic shit lying around someone’s house.

Imagine a movie like this: The world is on the brink of collapse after a group of amateur garage robotic builders produce an indestructible gang of robotic monsters to control the world. I picture their faces looking something like these. (more…)
