Last Friday a magnitude 8.9 earthquake occured off the coast of Japan. This earthquake generated a tsunami that came ashore and drove itself several kilometers inland, washing away just about everything in its path. In the chaos going on in Japan, Google has stepped up with their Person Finder tool.

The tool is simple: You enter the name of the person you’re looking for and click “Search for this person.” From there, it does a search and informs you if there is any information pertaining to the individual. It’s simple. It’s efficient. It may very well help families reconnect during these trying times in Japan.

Be advised, the page is in Japanese by default, though the translation (at least in Google Chrome) is excellent.
