No, you would need a contract. you would need a 3+ month working (not traveling) visa if not a proof of Japanese permament citizenship, a permanent Japanese address and a Japanese name stamp (shirushi)

the 703i will be able to roam to hong kong, per se. but roaming only, somebody will have to pay the bill for you in Japan.

besides it's not even out in the market yet, probably late feb early march

they will be able to roam to Canada, some of them do have GSM antennae, some only with WCDMA

they're not unlockable, heckers have tried for 7 years now
