At Amazon’s mp3 store, you can buy “The 99 Darkest Pieces Of Classical Music” for $5.00. Yes, that’s right—five bucks. It’s a mixed bag of artists and recordings, and the metadata aren’t great—but they’re better than you’ll get from a torrent. And for five cents per file, it’s the cheapest legitimacy out there.
It’s one in a lengthy series of dodgy themed 99-piece collections of classical music (such as the “99 Most Essential Pieces for Your Mind“; the “99 Most Essential Christmas Masterpieces,” now on clearance for $1.99; and “99 Most Essential Classical Music Pieces” tout court) Amazon would be pleased to wallpaper you iPod with.
