Bluetrek Bizz Brings Bodacious Bluetooth to Babes

bluetrekbizz01

Alliteration aside, the Bluetrek Bizz is looking to blend the world of USB devices and Bluetooth headsets. It’s a Bluetooth headset combined with a USB drive that accepts microSD cards for storage (thus turning it into a microSD card reader as well.)

While it may not be as fashionable as other Bluetooth devices, it gets the job done and the extra functionality it packs makes it worthwhile. Scoop one up for $55 or rob a Best Buy. I wouldn’t recommend the latter.

Texas Instruments Bringing Projectors to Mobile Phones By Year’s End

cellphoneprojector01

Imagine the possibilities of having a tiny mobile-projector inside your cellphone. You could hold your own intimate private screenings, showcase the bestiality porn you found on IRC last night or broadcast. Really, the possibilities are endless. Thanks to John Van Scoter over at Texas Instruments, we now know that some cellphones will receive a portable projector by the end of 2008.

According to Van Scoter, he believes that by 2010, projectors will be as popular as built-in cameras. Some may even feature DLP technology to enhance the clarity of the movie being played. It’s really only a matter of time before hackers get a hold of some of these projection-enabled devices and use the projectors in another setting or homebrew device.

Design an iPod Speaker from a Musical Card

fqubq0hfg7ktg18medium.jpg

My birthday was on Tuesday and I got about three musical cards this year. Though they were good for a short laugh, I felt bad that my siblings had spent $5 on a card just because it looped a sound over and over again. Luckily, Justin from Instructables has come up with a way to turn your useless birthday card into a sweet speaker for your MP3 player.

Essentially, you’ll be dismantling the card and wiring it up to a pair of headphones. Once that’s done, you’ll do a little cutting, wiring and next thing you know, you’ll be the proud new owner of a piece-of-shit speaker. Congratulations! It’s DIY!

Canadians Get The Hook Up From Apple

ipod_3g.jpg

Thanks to a class-action lawsuit, our readers from Canada might find themselves with a decent coupon good towards Apple products. Apparently, the suit was filed over the battery life of iPods and now anyone any bought a 1G, 2G or 3G iPod before June 24th, 2004 is entitled to a $44 credit from Apple. Sweet! Free money, baby!

The suit charges that Apple claimed that iPods had 8 hours of use in between charges of the battery. In reality, it was more like 3 hours, which left a lot of angry customers pissed off. Why not just buy an Apple-approved battery pack and save yourself a headache?

Turn Those CompuServe CDs Into Musical Gold

vinylcdshit

Aleks Kolkowski’s exhibit at the Futuresonic 2008 festival in Manchester is turning heads. He owns an original vinyl cutting device intended for making 45rpm records that is now being used to draw grooves in CDs.

During the festival, spectators were invited to bring in their old, unwanted CDs and have them etched with a song so they can be played on a turntable. Talk about regression!

Bathtunes: WET X-Light Surround Musical Washbasin

xflightbaththing

Most of us love to sing in the shower when no one’s around. I tend to take it one step further and sing while I’m shaving and taking a piss, but hey, if no one’s listening, might as well! Italian design company WET has created the X-Light Surround Basin with people like yours truly in mind.

At 142 x 38 cm, this transparent sink features dual basins and an integrated sound system. You can easily hook up an iPod or CD player to the built-in speaker system for instant Huey Lewis & The News, which beats listening to that cardboard music box you built last week. It’s available now, so be prepared to shell out the big bucks for such an elegant piece.

The Teeny Weeny USB Drive

Normally, when new USB drive hits the market, it’s not cause for concern in the slightest. But I have a feeling that this particular one-gigabyte drive will not only turn heads like that $300,000 watch you wish you owned, but will also encourage females to hop on your genitalia and ride you like a ferris wheel.

Now look at that box. What would you guess is inside? Take a guess.

MP3 Cassette With SD Memory Card… And Cassette Support

cassette1.jpg

There are more than enough gadgets which look like cassettes. We can go on all night. Ironically, very few of them actually act, or have any feature, which relates to the original purpose of the cassette. This MP3 Cassette not only looks the roll, but acts the roll. We’d even go as far to say it butters the damn roll.

How cool is it that this thing lets you make your own mix tapes just by throwing some tunes onto a 2GB SD card, and slipping it right inside the cassette base. The MP3 Cassette even plays through your car’s cassette player. But don’t worry. For those times where you don’t have  a cassette player handy, the player hooks you up with both a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB port. You can get yours for $40. (more…)

DJGO Keeps The Party Hoppin’ Over Here, And Over There

djgo3_kcerh_54.jpg

Whatever happened to the good old days of the traveling DJ. The days when turntabilism was a sought out art form for any rockin’ party. DJ’s are starting to get lazy, that’s what. Tired of lugging the same old equipment back and forth from gig to gig.

The DJGO concept understands that what the modern DJ wants, isn’t to make 20 trips back and forth for all of his gear. Packing in a pair of CD/ MP3 turntables and a mixer, which when not in use can be folded in half and carried around like a purse. It’s pretty much a Pacemaker Portable DJ System for the pro. — Andrew Dobrow

Underwater Disco Lightshow: Because You Know You Rock Out To The Village People In The Bath

underwater.jpg

I’m a firm believer in keeping all electronics away from water that I happen to be submerged in. Call me crazy, I just happen to much prefer the scent of lathered soap to the singeing of my own flesh. Don’t give me that “Well, Andrew, technically the gadget has to be plugged into a socket in order to deal a lethal dose of electricity.” This blogger is living on the safe side.

For all of you bathtub thrill seekers, Firebox offers an Underwater Disco Lightshow, which turns your tub into a tackier version of Saturday Night Fever. Battery powered and 100% waterproof (so they say,) all you have to do is strap your iPod into the waterproof enclosure and let the Lightshow do the rest. My iPod is going no where near the bottem of my bathtub. — Andrew Dobrow
