Netbooks aren’t the hardware midgets some might suggest. Ok, well they aren’t speed demons typically, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t several full PC games you can play right on your minuscule internet box. Liliputing put together a list of five PC games you can play right on your netbook. And they are:

1. Torchlight
2. Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
3. Sins of a Solar Empire
4. Trials 2 Second Edition
5. World of Warcraft

That’s right, as long as your netbook has 1 GB of RAM and you don’t mind playing with the effects settings at their lowest possible settings (which you’d be hard pressed to tell a difference anyway considering the netbook’s tiny display) you can actually play the full-version of World of Warcraft right from your netbook. While you were out gang-banging zombies (or Teletubbies, whatever strikes your fancy) I was playing Left 4 Dead on a slightly older system. And by slightly older, I mean very much older. Left 4 Dead for the NES seems like a zombified RPG which would have been AWESOME back in the early 90s. I would have died for a shoot-em-up zombie game.

The Zombie Outbreak Sim lets you witness the gradual zombie takeover of a Washington D.C. suburb. Users can create their own custom zombie infestation settings, changing the speed of the infection’s spread and even the speed of the zombies themselves.

It’s sort of like Sim City meets Fallout 3 and Resident Evil.

If the Castle level of Super Mario Bros. sounded like this I might not mute my TV whenever I reached this point in the game. Something about the original castle theme just irritated the hell out of me. That’s probably why it never reached the same iconic level as the other levels themes.

Props to the band Nylithia for the awesome death metal rendition. We really need a mod for this, so developers, get on it.

In preparation for the tremendous Christmas rush, EA Sports has taken it upon themselves to open a pair of stores, one in San Francisco, one in Boston, dedicated to only one game: EA Sports Active.

Sure, the demand for Active is so exceedingly high that normal retail outlets are sure to be bombarded with a stampede of eager EA maniacs… really, it requires its own storefront? And not only one… but two? And are there actually people in there that aren’t employees? Who are these people?

I’ve debated building a shrine to the NES for years now, but I’ve never actually gotten around to acting on the idea. Spotted over at the Super Potato retro gaming store in Akihabara, Japan, this 7-foot tall throne was made entirely out of Famicom cartridges, creating an apt shrine for the gamer who demands to be the king of his own domain.
