If you’ve come across Apple’s homepage today you might notice several new gadgets strewn across the site, including the maxi pad-inspired Magic Mouse, a brand new multi-touch mouse device which will now ship with all iMacs.

Apple also unveiled a new line of iMacs with massive 21.5 or 27 in. displays and a wireless keyboard and new MacBooks with a brand-new unibody look, only 1.08 inches thick, a built-in battery and an expanded trackpad. Now this is a great idea. A great idea that I didn’t think of first? Now that doesn’t happen everyday. But for this idea, I must concede defeat, as I would never have thought of such an ingenious space saver. Wait a second, I take that back, I so thought of this first. Yeah… totally did.

The PC Drawer and Locking Safe fills your empty PC slot with a little safe drawer to keep all of your co-workers / family members from stealing all of your damn paper clips. It’s not the cost so much as the fact that they never ask! It’s the principle of the thing.

Just as they say “live by the sword, die by the sword,” the same goes for geeks. Mr. Alan here was such a fan of his Sun SPARCstation that his ashes were placed inside of one (a SPARCstation in pristine condition I might add), complete with a name plate decked out with a quote from what other show then, you guessed it, Star Trek. Mr. Larry Ellison could not be more mortified honored.

Sources are reporting that Apple has sent a memo out to their retail stores across the U.S. stating that “further orders for many of its existing desktop SKUs would go unhonored and that stores should not expect those models to be restocked.”

In other words, we definitely should be seeing some new Apple desktop computers in the coming weeks, potentially days. The same memo states the Amazon has run out of all configurations of the current iMac and Mac Mini models. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more. Perhaps the greenest and most flammable case mod we’ve ever seen, aside from the UbuntuBox, the “Recompute” cardboard PC case shows off how sustainability can not only be cheap, but can ignite your whole house in flames as well.

Even if there is a cooling fan, and even if the power supply and mother board are kept at separate ends of the PC, this thing is going to generate plenty of heat.

The Egyptians built pyramids for a reason. Number one, the pharaohs forced them to at whip point. Two, they look fucking awesome. It seems the designer of this Pyramid HTPC casemod got his hands on a few Egyptian slaves. I wonder how much they go for these days.

If Leonardo da Vinci had taken a page out of Steve Jobs’s book and decided to design computer hardware for a living, his designs would have probably looked something like this.

We’ve already seen what the iPhone would have looked like through da Vinci’s eyes, and even his rendition of Super Mario Bros., but the iSteam Mac design reveals da Vinci’s vision of the original Mac 128. A shirt featuring this design will set you back $20, while a poster will cost you $15.You know I need me one of each.

I’ve fooled around with most of the major operating systems and Ubuntu is easily the most adaptive. It’s just made for users to fuck around with. So projects like this are possible, if not encouraged.

This Ubuntu wizard used a script to make the computer open and close the CD drive over and over again. But for what reason, you might be asking yourself? The main drive behind this invention, much like any innovation, was laziness. He didn’t feel like rocking his baby to sleep so he let his computer do it for him. The momentum of the drive keeps the baby rocking, just make sure the drive’s motor doesn’t burn out.

I always wondered why old-timey radio DJs all talked with the same inflection and same accent, yet no one these days talks the way they did. It was a very specific vocal inflection that was the signature of old-time radio and for the life of me, I could never figure out why they talked like they did.

While these days that old-timey radio voice is hard to find on any modern station, you can pretend that you have a voice for radio with this Microphone PC mod, a desktop computer made to look like an old-timey radio mic.
