Apple iOS 4.1 Now Live for iPhone and iPod Touch

Greetings iPhone users. You know that big iOS 4.1 update you’ve been waiting on for what seems like centuries but has really only been since Apple’s “Special Event” last week? It’s live right now, through iTunes, here is a list of new features and updates for the iPhone and iPod Touch:

  • Game Center: gaming meets social networking. Play multi-player games with your friends or meet random gamers if you don’t have any friends.
  • iTunes TV show rentals: $0.99 rentals streaming directly from iTunes to your device
  • iTunes Ping: You’ve got it with iTunes 10, now have it on your phone.
  • HDR Photography: High Dynamic Resolution, combining multiple exposures for a richer, sharper picture.
  • HD Video Uploads: Upload HD video directly to YouTube or MobileMe.

Well there you have it! I’m looking forward to the HDR photos myself. Head over to your nearest iTunes application to update your device. Or face the consequences.

  1. Apple has added some nice feature in this version but if you are using a jailbroken iPhone or planning to jailbreak after updating your iPhone, I suggest you should stay away from this update as dev team has clearly stated:

Theres currently no known way to revert your baseband if you update your baseband youll lose the ultrasn0w unlock, possible[sic] forever. Please stay away from this 4.1 release until a safe jailbreak procedure (which also preserves ultrasn0w) is developed and released.

So it’s better wait for some days or may be in a day we will have some good news to share 🙂
