Because It’s Friday: Abraham Lincoln Made of Cheddar and Other Cheese Sculptures

cheese-sculpture1

We like to get down on Friday’s with the best of them. And what better way to get down then to celebrate the greatness of cheese sculpting? I know I’m excited!

These sculptures make my feeble attempts at sculpting a cheese penis out of my measly string cheese look like pure amateur play. Cheddar happens to be my favorite, and I’ve never been one to hesitate eating a U.S. president when I have the chance. As it turns out, cheese sculpting has its own dedicated niche. Very dedicated.

Groovy Pencil Sculpture

pencils

Pencils aren’t just for writing anymore (who physically writes anymore anyway?). 72 pencils is a geometric sculpture using, well, 72 multi-colored pencils to construct a work of art. There are only a limited edition 25 signed models available, each offering a unique piece of pencil sculpting.

Anatomical Papercraft

anatomy-papercraft

Bert Simons created this excellent anatomical papercraft of the muscles of the human skull. Simons calls it an “anatomically incorrect representation,” but it looks pretty damn nifty, incorrect or not.

Realistic Wax Freak Sculptures

schlitzie03

Artist Thomas S. Kuebler creates wax sculptures featuring freaks, horrors and legends. Pictured above is his ultra-realistic sculpture of Schlitzie, perhaps the most famous and beloved pin-head in both freak show and pop culture history.

Buy Your Own Hacked Up Body

hackedupbody

I had “hacked up body” on my Christmas wishlist, but sadly, Santa didn’t deliver last year, which is really lame, because I would have used this $400 ultra-realistic body for Halloween this year.

*sigh* Maybe I’ll get lucky this year. Come on Santa, don’t make me beg.

Greek Sculptures with a Twist of Geek

greek-geek1

Just how iconic is the Apple iPod? Iconic enough to be featured in the hands of Greek gods. California Artist Adam Reeder created this fantastical Greek-inspired sculptures. Sculptures which prove that the iPhone is so great that even Zeus uses one.

Where would Pan be without Dream Theater to back up his serenade? And where would we be if we didn’t have Atlas to hold the stresses of the iPod on his shoulders? Why, we’d be musicless! Much more after the jump!

Optimus Prime Ice Sculpture

optimus-ice

Ice sculptures are the type of thing you imagine old men doing in small Alaskan towns. But apparently there are some aspiring ice sculptors who like to add a taste of geekery to their art.

This Optimus Prime ice sculpture would be great for chilling a small swimming pool full of beer. Other than that, I don’t see much use other than looking pretty. How many disguises do these damn things have?

LEGO Satan is Not Satisfied With Your Brick Creation

lego-satan

You’ve tried everything. You’ve tried rebuilding damaged architecture with LEGOs. You’ve tried building crazy reconstructions of video game characters. Hell, you’ve even tried recreating other forms of geek media with brick art.

And guess what. None of your efforts have amused LEGO Satan. That deal you made with the devil for a lifetime supply of Jolt cola in exchange for either an awesome LEGO toy or your soul, whichever comes first, isn’t looking like the best decision you’ve ever made.

Star Wars Clone Wars Action Shots in LEGO Form

tour-de-force1

The Tour de Force project by Ochre Jelly depicts action scenes based on the Star Wars’ Clone Wars universe, but with a twist. The scenes are composed of awesome LEGO sculptures.

Jelly has a unique take on Star Wars LEGO building. I really love the use of LEGO bricks to create the illusion of lightsaber movement.

“OMG! They Killed Kenny!” LEGO Brick Sculpture Creation

kenny-south-park-lego

Two things can be expected when watching an episode of South Park. One, you’re bound to laugh at something, even if it’s in disgust. Two, a heavily jacketed boy by the name of Kenny McCormick is going to die in some gory manner, every time without fail.

This OMG! They Killed Kenny! LEGO Brick Sculpture was created by Dirk VH. The design is complete with an axe shot to the head and the resulting gore. You bastards!
