Amphibious PC Keeps You Afloat

Swimming pool gadgets are the best kind of gadgets. Unfortunately, not all of them can keep people who lack buoyancy afloat.  Fortunately, for the lethargic, the “PC of the Swim-Rings” has a flotation device around the computers base which is reminiscent of a LifeSaver candy. The amphibious PC is fitted with a solar power driven processor, water-cooling system, GPRS receiver, Bluetooth wireless solutions, finger-touch input, magnetic charging interface and it’s even water-proof (go figure).

It could be used as a desktop for in-home use, but where’s the fun in that? At the moment the “PC of the Swim-Rings” is only a concept. A concept that, by the sound of the specs, is said to be better geared than any PC I’ve ever owned.

ProsperPC Concept Is Like Your Very Own Live-In Inspector / Secretary

How did we manage before the advent of mobile phones and the Internet. Seriously. I mean, I can’t think of a day that has passed in years where I haven’t relied on my cellphone or computer for some major aspect of my life. In a few years we might be asking a very different question. How did we live without the ProsperPC?

The ProsperPC concept, in entrant for the NextGen PC Design Competition, is basically a family and home management system which monitors everything from power usage, to your gas, water pipes, and climate control, notifying you of any problems, helping you to optimize power usage. But wait, there’s MORE! The ProsperPC, with its biometric touchscreen, also takes it upon itself to send SMS reminders to family members for scheduled appointments, while integrating almost every form of household media, including TV, into one PC based system. INFO Live Bracelet: A PC On Your Wrist

info-live.jpg

As far as entries to the Next-Gen PC Design competition go, the INFO Live is relatively simple and straight forward. The INFO Live Bracelet basically acts as a wearable smartphone, merging a mobile device and a PC into a fashion accessory.

Use the 55 x 20 x 180mm touch-controlled INFO Live device for Internet connectivity, data transferring to other wireless-enabled devices, storing tons of data, reading and receiving the latest news, e-mails, messages, sharing documents in real-time, watching videos, listening to some tunes and even writing new documents while mobile. The specifics are sort of hazy, but who cares about mechanics when it’s so damn pretty. (more…)

MS Next-Gen Finalist ‘Momenta’ Is Ingeniously Scary

momenta.jpg

Momenta is one of the finalists in Microsoft’s Next-Gen PC Design competition, and it’s not wonder why. The neck-worn Momenta is designed to record your life in a rolling buffer, while actively reading your pulse.

When Momenta senses your heart rate increasing, it saves the previous five minutes of buffered video, acting as sort of a real life TiVo so you can watch later to see what it was that made your pulse rise. Momenta sure can provide some psychological clarity, but somewhere we know the real point is for friend’s to see your fears and turn-ons, and then make fun of them for you unmercifully. — Andrew Dobrow
