Best Buy Leaks Black Friday Ad; Will Pass Out Tickets to Avoid Consumer Stampede

bestbuy

Best Buy’s Black Friday ad has leaked, which means it’s time to do some serious itinerary planning for the big day. See, I like me and my fiancee set up a full contingency plan based on what we want the most for us, then comes gifts for others. Come on, we need to set priorities people! Strategy is the name of the game on Black Friday.

So Best Buy has some moderately cool deals, especially in the video game department, but nothing mind-blowing. Though what might be notable is that Best Buy is not going to allow for anyone to get hurt this year because of their doorbuster deals. Apparently they don’t take “death by stampede” lightly. All doorbuster sales will be handled via tickets, which will be passed out up to two hours before the 5 am door openings. Hit the jump for a full-list of Black Friday Best Buy deals. Doorbusters are followed by an asterisk.

iPod Shuffle Ranked as World’s Worst MP3 Player

ipodshufflenew2_w500

Apple has some of the best and apparently the worst of gadgets around. The 2009 iPod Shuffle model was rated a dismal 51 out of 100 points, the worst among 9 similarly specced MP3 players.

Navigation of the device was apparently one of many key problems, the voice controls ranked as one of the most common complaints. T3 points out the terrible quality of the stock headphones and how Apple limits you to using only their models. This year’s Shuffle is clearly not Apple’s best, though it continues to rake in the profit, so somebody’s gotta be loving it.

nes_cartridge_portable

If you’ve been looking for a way to carry all of your old NES games around without having to lug around the entire NES console this project will probably flip your lid.

A clever modder built an NES emulator and a display inside of an old NES cartridge. But that’s not all. Aside from NES, this cartridge is also capable of playing Game Boy games, Game Boy Color games and MP3s.

hand_grenade_mp3

Yo, dawg, your music is da bomb-diggity. You wanted bass that really exploded?

An MP3 Player That Goes Straight Into Your Ear

thanko-mp3-player-2_6jcXY_54

Thanko might not be known for their practicality, but I think they might be on to something for once. Their Micro Sports MP3 Player looks more like a Bluetooth headset. The device fits right into your ear with a built-in earbud. It’s that tiny.

Available in 2GB and 4GB flavors, the Micro Sports MP3 Player looks a little chintzy, but seems to be even tinier than Apple’s iPod Shuffle.

Review: AKG K 340 In-Canal and K 450 Over Ear Headphones

k-450

After years of building up their name in the recording industry, AKG released a slew of consumer headphones, ready for us in the States to dabble with. I’ve had the opportunity to play around with both the K 340 and K 450 models, both portable, though in-canal and foldable respectively. After a week or so of listening to these phones it became clear that AKG is just as serious about their consumer headphones as they are about their professional grade equipment.

Wii Vitality Sensor

vitality-top-shot

See? This is what happens when you don’t believe me. You Wii owners must be really fucking excited by now. A vitality sensor add-on! It can measure your heartbeat! Guess what? You can do it without Nintendo’s overpriced hunk of plastic. Take two fingers, place on wrist, feel for pule – voila. I pity the fool who throws away their hard-earned money on this.

Spin and Play MP3 Player Wraps Up Like a Yo-Yo

smp3

The S.MP3 by French designer Nicolas Cinguion is an ultra-mobile portable media player, allowing its earbud’s cable to be wrapped inside of its own circular design. It looks sort of like a yo-yo, but sadly, doesn’t offer yo-yo functionality.

When will they learn??! What men really want is an MP3/yo-yo hybrid, not some impostor disguised as one.

Coldplay Giving Away New Live Album

coldplay-leftrightleftrightleft

Say what you will but some people, myself included, happen to like Coldplay. If it weren’t for us fans, why else would the band decide to give away its new live CD “Left Right Left Right Left.” You can get a CD version for free at their concerts or you can download the entire album on Coldplay’s official website. Music is great but it’s even better when it’s free.

Samsung I7500: Android Goodness

gt-i7500_03_1jpg

Rumors of an upcoming Samsung phone running Google’s Android OS were abound throughout the first quarter of this year. Now Samsung has laid those to rest and announced the I7500, an Android-powered phone that will drop in Europe this June and has already landed in Korea. What can it do? Aside from all your basic media playback bullshit (MP3, videos, etc.), it comes with a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen, GPS, WiFi and 8GB of internal memory. The camera is 5-megapixels, but that doesn’t mean shit unless it has a decent lens and CMOS sensor.

HSDPA-capable and equipped with Bluetooth 2.0, the I7500 is going to be the first Google device that people will actually want. For now, we’ll have to wait around and see if AT&T gets it sometime this year.
