Periodic Picnic Table of Elements Fills Your Tummy With Chemistry

ptable

She might have blinded you with science, but what are you going to do when you start getting hungry? Filling your belly is a lot more difficult when you can’t see your own food. This Periodic Picnic Table is cool enough to bring sight to the blind. Prove me wrong.

I don’t know what I’d do to own a table this awesome, but I assure you, the limits are few and far between. Would I steal from a blind man? Are you kidding? I’d do that just for the fun of it. Well, only if I was stealing candy. I love candy. My next chemistry-themed BBQ is going to ROCK!

Be Tony Stark: Iron Man Reactor Replica

arc-reactor

You call that cold lump of coal in your chest a heart? Sounds to me like you can use a little cardiac boost. This Arc Reactor film replica fits right into your shrapnel-damaged chest.

The replica comes emblazoned with the words “Proof That Tony Stark Has A Heart.” No, no it really isn’t. You want proof, feel for a pulse. The reactor only proves he’s part mad scientist.

Dino Van Owner Likely Not Allowed Near Schools

dino-van

This might as well be called the Pedo Mobile. You couldn’t get much more creepy unless you walk around with a sign that says “I have lots of free candy.” The promise of toys is made clear from the Dino Van’s facade. Spotted where else, but Walmart.

If the Dino Van is a-rockin’, you better come a-knockin’ or call the cops. Your kid might be in danger.

You probably won’t be able to pass this off as a man-purse, but this d20 Hand Bag seems like a fun project, even if the final product is a gift to your closest girly acquaintance. A step-by-step photo tutorial provides you with all the info you need to make you own.

Extreme Papercraft: Frabjous

frabjous

Created by Professor George W. Hart of SUNY Stony Brook, this is a papercraft work of art/puzzle that’s guaranteed to blow your mind. It’s called Frabjous and it’s made of 30 pieces of cardboard interwoven together. George was nice enough to make a PDF file for the rest of us who want to make one and solve it. Putting it together will be a challenge and one only the most bored of people will undertake.

Nano-sized Lock Box Opened with Key Made of DNA

daanbox

Atomically, DNA and its components are about as tiny as we can get before we enter the realm of “I don’t know what the hell I’m looking at here.” So you can imagine how “nano” we’re talking here when we mention a nano-sized box, made of DNA, which can only be opened by a specific DNA strain. Now THAT’S security.

Danish scientists at the Aarhus University Center for DNA Nanotechnology created a 3D box made of DNA. The box’s lid can only be opened when a specific strain of DNA is introduced as the key. What could science possibly use such a tiny box for? Targeted drug delivery, for one. These nano boxes could one day course through your veins, seeking a specific piece of DNA to open its latch and spread its love, just like your mother.

Stuffed MST3K Tom Servo Doll Was Crocheted By Hand

tomservo

In the not too distant future, next Sunday A.D., there was a guy named Joel, not too different from you and me. To make a long story short, he was abducted by a mad scientist and put into space with a collection of ultra-hysterical robots, most notably Tom Servo and Crow. Cambot and Gypsy had their place, but let’s be honest, it wasn’t as lead characters.

Anyway, for those of you who are nuts-o about Mystery Science Theater 3000, here is a totally rad Tom Servo doll which was crocheted by hand. You won’t be finding this in any store unfortunately, but maybe you could convince your grandma to make you your own. And if that doesn’t work, you can always threaten her with a nursing home, or your fists.

Space Invaders Cross-stitched Guitar Strap

This guitar strap fills me with geek envy. Renee of The Domestic Scientist made this cross-stitched guitar strap for her husband themed after the Atari classic Space Invaders. She is well versed in the art of geekery and even bakes her own 20 sided die cookies. That’s pretty geeky.

Next, she’ll be modding her husband’s guitar. We’re hoping she sticks to the Space Invaders theme she’s got going on. If not, well, there’s always Asteroids.
