Growl: If Super Mario Bros. Was Designed By Metal Heads…

If the Castle level of Super Mario Bros. sounded like this I might not mute my TV whenever I reached this point in the game. Something about the original castle theme just irritated the hell out of me. That’s probably why it never reached the same iconic level as the other levels themes.

Props to the band Nylithia for the awesome death metal rendition. We really need a mod for this, so developers, get on it.

The Frictionator: World’s Fastest Street Legal Jet Truck

frictionator

This truck might look like your average pick-up, but inconspicuously attached to the truck’s pick-up is a General Electric J85 Jet Engine. Wouldn’t have even noticed unless I pointed it out, huh?

The jet engine boosts the trucks horse power up to a massive 7000 hp, allowing the truck to hit a max speed of 200 mph. Believe it or not, this monster is technically street legal. That’s until the engine’s heat turns the following vehicles into heaps of molten lava. No guarantees that you’ll be street legal yourself after your deafened by the engine’s roar. If this thing can be street legal, so should a Boeing 747.

Roomba Pac-Man Game Makes Me Vacuum More Than Once a Year

roomba-vacuum-pacman-game

I’ve never claimed to be the most hygienic blogger among us, nor have I claimed to vacuum my humble apartment as regularly as I should, but I imagine if I had a cleaning rig like this, I might just set-out to clean my home at least once a week.

Utilizing five different Roombas instead of only one, which we’ve seen previously, this Pac-Man Roomba set-up insures that you have a little amusement while the Roombas do their jobs. The genius creator behind the Roomba Pac-Man game has also rigged the system up so that the ghost Roombas can distinguish the Pac-Man Roomba from the rest, thus setting into “chase mode.” Alright, enough talk, let’s get cleaning. Check out the vid after the jump.

iPhone App Translates Baby’s Cry into English

crytranslator1

What are babies known for? Mainly pooping and screaming. That’s just the nature of the early human life. And who can blame them? The only problem is that the screaming is almost impossible to decipher through the human year. To us, it’s all just screaming. But apparently there are at least five different types of cries and the Cry Translator iPhone app claims it can distinguish between them all.

The Cry Translator helps decode the mysterious yiping of your newborn, dividing the scream’s cause into one of five basic categories: hungry, sleepy, annoyed, stressed, bored. It might be hard to believe, but the app claims it can “reduce overall infant crying.” And for $9.99, that’s a little piece of heaven for new parents.

Video Review: Netflix PS3 Instant Streaming Disc

Today is the day, baby. Most of you who reserved a PS3 Instant Stream disc will be receiving yours today. I happened to be one of the lucky ones who got their hands on a disc a littler earlier in the day so I’ve taken the liberty of reviewing the disc for those of you who were still on the fence about going through the trouble of reserving your own copy.

The whole process is pretty seamless. The first time you pop in the disc you’re required to go through a very simple activation process, but after that you’re home free. The cover flow UI is easy to navigate after you get used to the slightly clumsy square-button led navigation. The quality is MUCH better than I expected, almost reaching DVD quality and definitely out pacing both my PC and my Mac.

Enough of my pandering. Check out the video and see for yourself!

The Prometheus Device Lets You Shoot Fire From the Palm of Your Hand

the-prometheus-device

Everett Bradford created this insanely awesome “Prometheus Device” which lets you shoot fire from a hand-mounted flame thrower. The device makes you feel like a real superhero, or supervillain, for whichever purpose you decide to use your new found powers, good or evil, is up to you.

Bradford’s also done a great job documenting the building process, but of course, continue at your own discretion as this project is bound to be more dangerous than your average garage project. In other words, say your goodbye to your eyebrows now. You’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Subaru-based TRAX STI: Rally Car Meets Snowmobile

subaru-trax-sti

DC Shoes co-founder Ken Block began with a plain old Subaru rally car, but with the help of Vermont SportsCar created a 400 horsepower cat track monster. With a turbocharged engine and a new set of cat track tires, the Subaru-based TRAX STI provides pure rally power in alpine conditions.

Based on a race ready Subaru WRX STI rally car, the TRAX is considered the world’s fastest cat track operation automobile. If you like to show up at the slopes in nontraditional style, you can’t do much better than this sick vehicle.
