50 Years Ago, Man Entered Space

On April 12th, 1961 a Russian cosmonaut by the name of Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin became the first human being to venture into outer space. Unfortunately there are only a handful of images and no video of what Gagarin saw when it first went into orbit, but thanks to astronaut Paolo Nespoli on the International Space Station, we can now get an idea of what Gagarin saw in this 99 minute film:

I’ve wanted nothing more than to view the Earth from space. Sadly, I an neither an astronaut or rich, so this… this is about as close as I’ll ever get. Still, it’s a gorgeous film.
