Steve Jobs Takes Medical Leave From Apple

Hear that flood? That’s the sound of Apple shareholders and investors selling off their stake in the company as quickly as humanly possible. Why? CEO Steve Jobs just took a temporarily leave of absence from Apple. Here’s his note to Apple employees: Team, I am sure all of you saw my letter last week sharing something very personal with the Apple community. Unfortunately, the curiosity over my personal health continues to be a distraction not only for me and my... Continue reading

Processing Sound and Audio With The Arduino

It’s no news that we’re Arduino nuts here at Gearfuse, but lately, we haven’t seen anything that has really pushed the boundaries of the popular microcontroller. Now some smarty pants named Martin has come along with a schematic that allows real-time audio processing with the Arduino. This means you can create guitar FX pedals, equalizers and a whole lot of digital instruments thanks to this setup. Says Martin: The first set of examples alter an incoming audio signal and put... Chipotle Launches iPhone App

If you live near a major city in the United States, chances are, you’ve seen or visited a Chipotle. See, Chipotle is a delicious. It is fast, delicious (though a bit pricey) Mexican food where burritos are the size of your child’s head. That’s why I’m incredibly excited that it has created an iPhone application for ordering Chipotle when you’re on the go. Order burritos, tacos, bowls and all the other good stuff they offer just by touching your iPod... Continue reading

Sony Sues Datel Over Hacker Battery

Back in November, we briefly discussed Datel’s Lite Blue Battery Tool, a battery you plugged into your PSP 3000 and used to run homebrew code. All was going well for Datel, until Sony decided it’d rather sell UMDs then have consumers pirate every PSP title. Now the Japanese megacorp is suing Datel and sales are now suspended until the lawsuit is resolved. Will Sony come out on top? Hard to tell, but judging by the legal team it has, I... Three Sixty Table Spins Me Round and Round

If you give a mouse a cookie, he’s going to want a glass of milk. A similar saying can be said for skateboarders. If you give them parts, they will build some kind of rolling contraption out of it. In this case, the Three Sixty Table resembles a coffee table-sized lazy susan that can turn for serving. The catch? It uses a series of three skateboard trucks and three pairs of wheels to create the movement, all while maintaining a... Continue reading

Under The Sea: Crochet Coral Reef

For once, we’ve come across a product that is handmade and not featured on Etsy. This time, we have a coral reef that was painstakingly crocheted and set up on a table. Take a step back and squint hard enough. You might find that this coral reef looks pretty damn real from a distance. Amazing detail and true craftsmanship are what make this a lovely choice of design. This is the part where I crack a joke about a coral... Continue reading

Wii Balance Board Controlled Labyrinth Game

The Wii Fit was tough to find this holiday season and it seems that it hasn’t gotten any easier to come across. If you’ve got a Wii Balance Board collecting dust because you’d rather not use it to play video games, why not do as the CCCKC do. Jestin Stoffel and Vince Thompson used an Arduino microcontroller and two servos to operate a labyrinth game. Not David Bowie’s Labyrinth, either. I’m speaking of the box with a maze on top...
