Sony Pictures To Simulcast Final ‘Rent’ Performance

I’d be lying if I said I never expressed interest in “Rent”, the rock musical that changed this and that and everything in between on Broadway. As you may or may not know, “Rent” is about to end its run on Broadway after 12 years. Sony Pictures is looking to cash in huge on the final performance, so it’s decided it will simulcast it to various movie theaters throughout the US. Exact dates for the screenings haven’t been set yet,... Continue reading

The 5-mile WiFi Bridge That Costs Pennies

Did I say pennies? What I meant was twenties. Yeah. Sorry about that. But all humor aside, I am a bit ticked off about something here. I hail originally from Philadelphia and it will always be my home to an extent. About 3 years ago, I had a photo taken of me by an AP reporter. He explained that it was for a story he was doing on a new wireless Internet initiative going on in Philadelphia. I would later... Continue reading

The Blender Lamp

Have an old blender lying around? Might as well put it to good use or chuck it. We highly recommend turning it into a lamp because it’s cheap and easy to do. All you’ll need is a screwdriver and and a light socket like the kind you can buy for $3 at The Home Depot. An hour or two later, you should end up with a brand new lamp shaped like a blender. While you could use a modern-day blender... Continue reading

Soda Seal – Preserving Your Flat Mountain Dew

After taking a good look at Johan De Broyer’s Soda Seal, I have to say I’m impressed. Time after time, soda cans are usually littered about the house, sometimes half-full. Rather than let them sit around and become flat, the Soda Seal would cut back on wasted soda and that’s always a good thing. The device isn’t intended to be added to cans by users but rather is supposed to be included on the can from the manufacturer. You crack... Continue reading

Sorry to Disappoint, Fanboys

A lot of you are under the impression that the consoles I selected for my 10 Worst Gaming Consoles of All Time post were chosen for the fact that I simply don’t like them. You couldn’t be further from the truth with that assumption. The Nokia N-Gage being a portable console and my half-assed rant aside, I believe that in my inebriated state (I had just arrived in New York after traveling all day,) I failed to really give you... Nintendo DS Homebrew Guide

Looking to get the most out of your DS? DS Fanboy has compiled a great homebrew guide for all you coders and hackers who are interested in using the Nintendo DS as a development platform. We’ve dabbled a bit in DS homebrew discussion, pointing out accessories like the N5 loader and the KORG DS-10 software, which, without a doubt in my mind, probably started off as a homebrew application. There’s a glossary in case you’re not familiar with some of... Continue reading

Lose the Bulb With Illuminating Glass

I just can’t get enough of all this new glass.  Saazs has developed a self-illuminating glass which could eventually replace light-bulbs altogether. It’s an eco-friendly design that eliminates the need for electricity.  It doesn’t quite light up the room like a neon-light would and only lasts about 20 years, but it’s still a better solution if you’re all about the green. Environmental improvements are delivered in part by the non-toxic gas employed: a significant improvement over the mercury-infused gas of neon bulbs. Within three... Continue reading

Toss That Salad: Salad Plant

How many times has your wife bitched you out for buying ugly kitchen appliances? I’m sure if you’re like any normal couple, it’s happened plenty of times and the both of you are sick of it. In comes the Salad Plant to save the marriage day! Essentially, it’s a plastic plant when you have both tongs placed inside the pot. Yank the tongs out and you’ll become the ultimate salad-tossing machine. As an added bonus, you can use the pot... Continue reading

Future Tennis Without Life Threatening Hazards On The Court

Combine the urban security suit with the augmented reality mask and you get the future outfit of pro-tennis. A recent Lacoste ad, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the brand, shows a player dressed in a ridiculous garment, playing tennis in a fictional, digitally-enhanced room. The racket has robotic features and assembles itself right out of the bag. The walls measure the speed of your slice and even returns the ball to the player.  Seems pretty intense for a tennis game but I’d be willing to... Continue reading

TokyoFlash Infection Watch

Leave it to TokyoFlash to make yet another completely useless watch. This time around though, the company has created a watch I’d actually want to wear. Dubbed “Infection”, this watch emulates a colorful petri dish full of organisms (I said organisms, not orgasms. Get your mind out of the gutter.) There’s 27 multi-colored LEDs moving around that, apparently, can somehow tell you the time. Check this: Twelve red LEDs indicate hours, eleven yellow LEDs represent the progression of time in...
