Barack Obama Becomes Owned-bama

obama.jpg

Barack Obama is all about spreading the word of hope. His counterparts would like you to think otherwise, as can be seen by a recent hacking of Obama’s very own Hope.net. The hacker smeared the site with red lettering which says “Spread the word! Barack Obama has no security on his web site! Will his administration have no security?”, later editing the text to read “To the media! Stop saying Clinton hacked Obama. They want nothing to do with this. You spread lies.”

I’m not sure whether this was a legitimate hack or not, since removing the “www” from Hope.net will take you to the normal appearance of the website (Editor’s Note: Or at least it did, seems the standard Hope.net page is now redirected to the www version), though the addition of the www still takes you to the defaced version of the site. If so, is this a prank from one of the Nutcracker’s supporters, as the links clearly point towards Hillary’s website? — Andrew Dobrow

Massaging Backpack Makes It Easier To Lug Your Shit Around

Despite the fact that there have been giant leaps in terms of ergonomics for gadgets, overuse can still cause your body to feel as if it’s falling apart. If they didn’t, there would be no market for massage items such as these. The Massaging Backpack might still cause you to ache, but at least it provides a solution for a sore back.

Remote controlled, the Massaging Backpack works your back muscles with a customizable pulse and rumble which is supposed to ease your pain, at least better than a Boombox Backpack could. Whether it actually accomplishes this goal is debatable. Get your for around $63. — Andrew Dobrow

Google never ceases to amaze with their annual April Fool’s antics, and this year, the search giant brings the joke right to their main search page on their Australian domain. Launching a new “service” called gDay, which shows you tommorows search results, before they happen.

We’re sure this will come in handy for those who play the lottery or gamble their savings away at the tracks. It’ll also be fun to use as a spoiler the evening before election day. — Andrew Dobrow

INFO Live Bracelet: A PC On Your Wrist

info-live.jpg

As far as entries to the Next-Gen PC Design competition go, the INFO Live is relatively simple and straight forward. The INFO Live Bracelet basically acts as a wearable smartphone, merging a mobile device and a PC into a fashion accessory.

Use the 55 x 20 x 180mm touch-controlled INFO Live device for Internet connectivity, data transferring to other wireless-enabled devices, storing tons of data, reading and receiving the latest news, e-mails, messages, sharing documents in real-time, watching videos, listening to some tunes and even writing new documents while mobile. The specifics are sort of hazy, but who cares about mechanics when it’s so damn pretty. (more…)

Suzuki Starts Production Of Hydrogen Powered Crotch Rockets

Those of us who respect a well-made and gorgeously designed bike will be happy to learn that Suzuki has decided to put their Crossgate concept into production. But that’s not the only good news. The Crossgate is also going to be hydrogen powered, a little perk for the environmentalists among us.

Developed with the help of the British Intelligent Energy, the Crossgate will be powered by a light-weight fuel-cell system, with a secondary battery as back-up. You know, just in case all of the Earth’s hydrogen disappears. In which case we’d probably be worrying about more then our Suzuki Crossgate, no matter how sexy it might be (sexier than the Suzuki Biplane in my opinion). Seriously, I just want to hump this damn bike. (more…)

Double-Sided Transforming LCD Display Steals Our Heart

common-monitor_54.jpg

For all of you who haven’t had the chance to upgrade to a flat-screen LCD display yet (heaven forbid), you might want to wait a little bit longer. At least if anything like this product has a future. This conceptual LCD can divide into two back-to-back monitors if your family doesn’t want to watch the same picture you want to watch.

Though, if you and your peeps can compromise on one program, the display can be folded out for one magnificently large wide-screened image. There’s no real information or specs yet for this bad boy, and frankly, I don’t even know if it’s possible to produce such a screen, but I know this would solve some otherwise violent disputes between my lady friend and I. — Andrew Dobrow

Man Catalogs Star Wars Action Figures With Help Of Pixel Art

If you’re to take a trip over to Joshua Budich’s website, you might be confused by what you find. At first glance it appears as nothing more than a showcase for a gallery of somewhat lame Star Wars-themed pixel art. But as you click further with your mouse, you discover a hidden secret.

The pixel art is just the begining. Budich goes on to document a wide array of Star Wars action figures. I’m not sure if the catalog is a complete Star Wars toy encyclopedia, but the contents are pretty fun to browse through, especially accompanied by the little pixel people (and droids). — Andrew Dobrow

Stellar Movement Time-Lapse Shows The Beautiful Path Of The Stars

stars.jpg

Ever wish you could stare up at the sky and see the stars move, without having to track one specific star for hours on end? This excellent time-lapse photo shows the movements of the stars through a full night, and we don’t mean in some artsy-fartsy design sort of way.

The finished product looks like a tunnel or worm hole has opened and ripped its way through the heavens. Good thing the photographer had a clear and cloudless night. Excellent and intriguing shot. Just to think, somewhere out there, our very own little Mars Man is being demolished by an avalanche.– Andrew Dobrow

Port-O-Rotary Phone Takes A SIM For The Team

 port-o-rotary.jpg

While there have been attempts to bring the rotary phone into the modern age, and even attempts at retaining the rotary dial design as fashionable, none has been successful at making a rebirth of the device which used to be the norm. The Port-O-Rotary adds in SIM card capability, allowing you to bring your clunky rotary phone on the road.

Maintaining the retro feel was important, so the Port-O-Phone still rings like a normal rotary, and even features a dial-tone, despite its cellular support for 900MHz, 1800MHz, or 1900MHz frequencies. Get yours for $249.95. (more…)
