Creator Of Pong Working On An MMO: Probably Has Nothing To Do With Pong

We thought the idea of Nolan Bushnell, creator of Pong, one of the first and most well-known video games worldwide, was a really interesting idea. If he could think of something with the lasting power of Pong, what could he offer the world of MMOs?

Bushnell comments that he is indeed working on an MMO, but than mysteriously added “as compelling as World of Warcraft is, it too shall find that there are other ways to play a game.” So we’re thinking the Bushnell MMO won’t be your traditional fantasy dragon slayer game. — Andrew Dobrow

The Suntory Mermaid II Wave Powered Boat

You can’t say the Earth doesn’t contain enough water. Nope there is more than enough of that for sure. So why are we not using it more? Especially for sea-going vessels. The Suntory Mermaid II is a boat that uses something waves to provide it the energy it needs to move.

Being touted as the greenest nautical power source since the sail, the Mermaid II uses two fins side-by-side along the bow which are moved by the waves to produce a dolphin-like kicking propulsion movement. The only drawback is that the Suntory will move at around five knots, which is 2-3 times slower than your average diesel ship. — Andrew Dobrow

Topsy-Turvy School Bus Turns Child’s Life Inside Out

I don’t know about you, but if I was still in elementary school, and one day a bus like this came to pick me up, I would flip the fuck out! The Topsy-Turvy Bus defies the laws of reality by offering a mirror image of itself, on top of….itself.

At least if this bus were to flip over in an accident, it would almost always land on its wheels. (more…)

Way to go and steal other peoples ideas and enlarging them a few hundred times, Philips. Do you really want to be the Carlos Mencia of gadgets? The huge touch-sensitive LED Wall is being shown as an attraction at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Arkansas.

The LED Wall is a 14 foot long creation which holds more than 1,400 LED bulbs which respond to touch. So, it’s pretty much a incredibly large Lite Brite set. And we thought we had rid ourselves of those damn light pegs. — Andrew Dobrow

Read In Bed Without Having The Book Fall Flat On Your Face

bedtimehr6.jpg

Reading before I got to bed is one of those things that I have been doing for years. It’s relaxing and entertaining, without being over stimulating. I’m just getting sick of waking up in the morning with the book laying over my face, leaving nasty looking skin indentations that last through the day.

The Bedtime Reading Quilt is made of several layers which can be teared off as you read. The quilt contains some of the classic bedtime stories for your pleasure, keeping you both warm and indentation free. — Andrew Dobrow

GPS-Equipped Walker Saves Grandpa From Making A Senile Turn

Oh, Grandpa you did it again. Brought home by the police for making a wrong turn and “accidentally” walking into the woman’s fitting room. What are we going to do about these old timers constantly getting lost in the shuffle? Some student researchers are playing around with the idea of including GPS connected through WiFi on walkers.

This way, patients at nursing centers would be able to take care of themselves better, without their forgetful minds causing them to take a wrong turn at the cafeteria, and instead walk into the secret senior torture dungeon. — Andrew Dobrow

Most guys under oath wouldn’t even admit to looking at porn at the office, but it happens. We know it happens. It’s one of those don’t ask, don’t tell type of things. No matter how many people there are who look at porn, or who are just plain goofing off on company time, there is always the risk that you will be the one who is caught actually in the act.

The USB Privacy Mouse includes a special button which allows you to set a predetermined window to pop up when you’re goofing off at work, not to mention all of the key-features of a standard mouse, such as 800dpi of movement ability and a scroll wheel,. So when your boss turns the corner towards your cubicle, click the privacy button, and a work-friendly window will pop up to save your ass. Get your own for $20. — Andrew Dobrow

Some hunters like to show their prized kills as an eternal showpiece. You’ve probably seen the home of a hunter who has an assortment of taxidermy head plaques around their home. Lego PC Mod Pieces Together A Winner

lego-pc-case-mod_5_54.jpg

We’re not too sure that Lego Gandhi would approve of the use of Lego’s as a case mod for a PC, but what does he know? The guy is made of friggen Lego pieces. Whatever he might think, we certainly think the Lego PC case mod is one for the Gearfuse book of sick mods.

The Lego enclosure holds in a VIA Epia PD Mobo 1Ghz, Nvidia 6200 PCI Graphics, Laptop 80 Gig 7200Rpm Hdd, Laptop DVD, 1 GB Geil DDR memory, 200 watt PS, so it packs in some decent hardware. Hopefully the pieces don’t crumble like every Lego masterpiece I ever built. (more…)

EMBRIO: A Unicycle With A Motor

one-wheeled-motorcycle-1.jpg

Unicycles aren’t commonly used unless you fall into a certain demographic. Usually 17-year-old dice-rollers (and we don’t mean gambling.) The EMBRIO Advanced Concept takes the unicycle to the year 2025, when even one-wheeled transportation can be sexy.

EMBRIO uses sensors and gyroscopes to balance up to two passengers on a large single wheel, using the two smaller “landing gear” wheels to balance the bike at higher speeds. (more…)
