Well of course we knew Nvidia were going to be “working” on the next addition to their GeForce line of graphics chips, but this is the first we’ve heard on any possible release date. According to sources, the Nvidia GeForce 9 should be rolling out around February of 2008.

Based on this rumor, you could expect mid-range GeForce 9s to appear sometime in June 2008. The new GeForce’s will have support for DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1, a feature that newer graphic cards from AMD are already offering. — Andrew Dobrow

Orgasmo Clock: Perfect For Straight Men And Lesbians Alike

From personal experience, I can say that just because an alarm clock is shrill and obnoxious, doesn’t mean it’s going to get my alcoholic lazy ass out of bed. What I need is something that’s going to make me rise for the occasion. The Orgasmo Clock has the answer.

Instead of the standard high pitched chirping of a classic alarm clock, Orgasmo goes with the less orthodox “female orgasm” sound. Even better, the clock can’t fake it. When it’s time to get up, you’ll hear a moaning woman beckoning your call. Get your own for $25. — Andrew Dobrow

ETree Lamp: All Strings Attached

etree_electroluminescent_la.jpg

The ETree Lamp uses gorgeous electroluminescent tubes to produce an organic moving light piece. ETree comes off as more of an interactive sculpture than a lamp, just because it’s one of those pieces that are so artsy, it just has to be exclusive.

ETree’s 10 bluish-green “branches” can be bent into about any shape you desire, allowing the user to create their own work of art for the setting of their home. I think I’d make my branches all standing straight up in a line, sort of like a giant mohawk. A full scale ETree will cost you £1000 (appx. $2068 USD), while a mini version is available for £360 (appx. $745 USD). Not too bad when you consider it looks like a conceptual piece. — Andrew Dobrow

Driin Mobile Phone Holder Shackles Cables From Causing Chaos

driinnphoneholder_small.jpg

While a gadget like the Wall Cleat is great for heavy duty cables, what about short length cables such as your phone charger. In order to actually charge your phone you need to have the short cable plugged into the device, which causes some problems when the only free plug is hidden behind a large piece of furniture.

The Driin Mobile Phone Holder supplies a little shelf to hold your device as it charges, as well as a place to wrap spare cable. It even comes available in a wide assortment of colors to fit your interior design. This way, when your phone is dying in the middle of an important conversation, you don’t have to hold your head against the wall just to talk on the phone. — Andrew Dobrow

Virgin Mary USB Flash Card: Blasphemous Storage

There aren’t too many USB drives that can be described as being blasphemous, but the Virgin Mary flash drive is truly a sight to be seen. We don’t know how we feel about the Virgin having a male input, but adding in a blinking heart for when the device is plugged in was a good touch.

Inscribed on the halo shaped sign above the drive, it says “Oh, Maria. Keep My Data Safe.” This is not a drive for atheists, and might not attract religious nuts either. We guess it could make a decent gag gift? The price of 69 euros is a nice touch too. — Andrew Dobrow

Today, everything is about bulk. Everything is becoming more compact, even dare we say “snack-sized”. This user on the Ben Heck forums put together a creative gift for his girlfriend’s birthday. A NES Controller with the entire console built-in to the controller, as well as some built in-games.

The NES Controller features the 2 player version of tetris, and a level select hacked Contra, among 70 or so more  built-in games. And for the games you want to play that aren’t included? There’s a built-in cartridge input on the back of the controller. (more…)

Tiwe Watch Is One With The Stars

lv_zhongfang_tiwe_watch.jpg

The Tiwe Watch by Lv Zhongfang was designed with the memory of starry nights. When the watch isn’t in use, dots move freely across the OLED display, resembling some sort of bizarre night sky.

When you need to see the time, just tap the surface or shake the watch, and the “stars” will align, creating the arms and the designated digit spots. No word on if this watch can actually move the stars to your liking. — Andrew Dobrow

GPS-enabled Cameras Coming In 2008?

ricoh_pro_g3_270×199.jpg

Kanwar Chadha, founder of GPS chip designer SiRF, has predicted that we could be seeing the first GPS-enabled digital cameras become available in some point of 2008. Chadha says “Most (camera makers) are seriously planning location-enabled cameras. The first you’ll see next year.” While this should be taken as soley a rumor so far, seeing as Chadha does have quite a lot at stake in the business, he certainly does have connections.

Adding geotagging technology to digital cameras could open up a whole new world of social networking and mapping technology. The problem of merging the two technologies relies on finding a GPS hardware system that can run with manageable power off of camera’s limited battery life. While several modules have been introduced to aid in geotagging, smoother integration is surely on the way. — Andrew Dobrow
