World of Warcraft to integrate voice chat

Guess what Vent users. Your beloved Ventrillo server my not have a place anymore. Blizzard has announced that voice chat will be integrated into popular MMO World of Warcraft.

What was originally done on private Vent servers will now be able to be done with an in-game add on. Chatting with your guild members is one thing, but when it came to talking on a vent, for some reason we just never fell in love with the idea. Some people will tell you how much they love the Vent servers, but for us, this seems like a unneeded addition that will just worsen the lag on people with slow internet speed. — Andrew Dobrow

Here’s a pretty cool recycled gadget idea. An advertising agent out of Santa Caterina, Brazil makes these cool motorcycle replicas from out watch parts. Some of them look like concept designs straight from American Choppers.

Although none of the cycles are up for sale, maybe this little boost of popularity will convince the designer to sell a few of these beauties. Well, here’s hoping. (more…)

Your credit card of the future

Some people still prefer carrying cash around. We have sort of phased paper money out of our lives, keeping a spare $20 around in case of emergencies. The one dangerous thing about only using a bank card is that you can lose track of your spending really quick. A futuristic design concept might change how we budget ourselves.

Using RFID technology, Designer Jacob Palmborg has conceived of this futuristic card that would have real time data for all of your existing accounts. A screen interface would display your current available balance as well as recent purchases and receipts. Biometric security features make sure that only you can access the information. Something like this also produces the possibility to have one all-encompassing card that could hold your drivers license and passport. (more…)

The multi-console wedding cake

When GameDaily contributor Carol Orsini decided to get hitched to a non-gamer, there was bound to be a few kinks along the chain. But one thing’s for sure. She was not going to have a non-gaming themed wedding.

The multi-consoled cake features 4 different consoles, the Xbox, the Xbox 360, PS2, and topped with the limited edition gold Zelda Gamecube. The non-gaming hubby wasn’t available for comment, although Carol’s longtime boyfriend, Mario, says that he is honored to be a part of the wedding. We still think they should have added their Miis. — Andrew Dobrow

Fujitsu LiberTouch: Liberate your keyboard

Some people have a difficult time learning how to type faster because of the awkwardness of the QWERTY set-up. The seemingly random key combination just doesn’t compute in some people’s head. The Fujitsu LiberTouch keyboard will have removable keys so that you can custom arrange your key layout.

The semi-modular LiberTouch system allows you to pop off the keys and rearrange them, as well as adjust the sound and tactile placement of the keys, depending on your preference for key pressure. The keyboard will also have a USB port and a special tool made for “extractions” of keys and hobos kidneys. – Andrew Dobrow

While Atari might have been even a little before our time in gaming glory, we appreciate it as much as other geeks. The prototype for the Atari Flashback Portable, which is now a confirmed product rather than a conceptual piece, looks like one really functional handheld console.

The handheld itself looks not much bigger than the game cartridges themselves, and will no doubt house a plethora of built-in games with no cartridge in sight. Plus, all of the cartridges will be able to be played on the device. The prototype is looking good. — Andrew Dobrow

Sony scandal: 150 years of secrets and guilt

This is a screenshot taken from TVB, a Hong Kong TV station. While broadcasting a movie staged in China 150 years ago (the Qing Dynasty), a small translation malfunction occurred. TVB was trying to translate the name “Suoni” into English, and they ended up with “Sony is guilty”. Well, we can’t deny the fact that Sony has been hurting our feelings and those of our great grandparents. They shamed our families honor. And now they must pay for their atrocities against humanity. — Sam Chan

Tankbooks put classic novels into vintage cigarette packs for no reason whatsoever

cig_books1.jpg

Smoking bans across the U.S. have taken hold, many places banning smoking in any private area, or even public areas. If you wanna cause a stir, but don’t actually want to be thrown out of the place you’re located, whip out one of these.

Tankbook is actually a full length classic novel, miniaturized to fit inside of a vintage cigarette pack. The packs are even pretty authentic themselves. They come packaged in a flip top, with a foil insert and cellophane wrapping, just like any other pack of smokes. The packs are replicas of popular brands, with the small exception that the brand name is replaced with a title and author name. Available for $14. — Andrew Dobrow
